Panasonic Unveils High-Speed, Enhanced-Security Business-Class Fax Machines
SECAUCUS, NJ--(Marketwire - April 5, 2011) - Panasonic System Networks Company of America today announced the release of two high-speed, enhanced-security business-class G3 fax machines designed specifically for small-to-midsized corporate, healthcare and public service offices which process a substantial quantity of incoming and outgoing faxes as part of their daily workflow.
Featuring best-in-class overall speeds of three-second scanning1 and 24ppm laser printing, the UF-5500 and UF-4500 feature up to 8MB of document memory (8MB, UF-5500; 4MB, UF-4500) a large 32-character LCD display surrounded by easily comprehensible one-touch buttons, three-step avoidance of misdirected faxes and automatic protection from stored-in-RAM data theft.
"Panasonic's four decades of success in the fax business is largely based on listening to our customers and delivering solutions that work for them," Panasonic System Networks Company of America President Bill Taylor said. "Given realities such as HIPAA and similar privacy legislation and the high potential for abuse anytime an unauthorized party gets access to private documents, many of these solutions involve data security.
"With the UF-5500 and UF-4500 we have taken major steps to address end-user concerns about documents being unintentionally sent to the wrong recipient or intentionally pilfered from a machine's internal memory in a highly efficient, workflow-friendly manner."
To prevent accidental dissemination of faxes to unintended recipients, the UF-5500 and UF-4500 incorporate three gatekeeping systems:
- Direct Dial Re-entry requires users to confirm directly dialed numbers before fax transmission can begin
- Direct Dial Blocking allows system administers to limit sending to one of the numbers in the unit's 200 station autodialer
- On-Screen Address Confirmation displays the registered name on the LCD display before sending the fax.
Features designed to restrict access to documents stored in RAM memory include auto-erasure of outgoing faxes after successful transmission or repeated attempts resulting in transmission failure.
In addition to the 30-sheet capacity ADF, 250-sheet paper tray, toner-and-time saving Junk Fax Filter and remote maintenance and support capability it shares with the UF-4500, the UF-5500's USB/LAN Ethernet connectivity enables users to move up toward true paperless document management.
Network operations available on the UF-5500 include 600 x 600 dpi full color scanning to PC or server, Paperless PC Faxing directly from a user's PC desktop, and the ability to manage the fax machine's phone book and configuration settings via PC.
