  • China's top electric vehicle producer BYD is set to show further market share gains when November vehicle sales data is released on Monday, putting it on course to exceed its annual goal and overtake Ford and Honda in global sales.

BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker, is on track to meet its 2024 sales target of 3.6 million vehicles, aiming to surpass Ford and Honda in global sales. The company's sales in November 2023 showed a 31% increase year-over-year, reaching 301,378 vehicles, with a significant portion being pure electric and plug-in hybrid models. This performance has positioned BYD to potentially become the world's top-selling car brand, following its recent achievement of overtaking Tesla in quarterly EV sales. BYD's strategy includes expanding its market presence both domestically and internationally, with a focus on increasing its export volumes. The company's growth is supported by its vertical integration, allowing it to produce batteries and semiconductors in-house, which gives it a competitive edge in the EV market.
