The Yarmouth Mariners Centre is undergoing a significant expansion, which will now be known as the Credit Union RecPlex, thanks to a $1 million donation from the Nova Scotia Co-operative Council. This expansion includes the addition of a wellness and community hub, featuring a new walking track, a fieldhouse, and a community room. The project, which has seen its costs rise to $26 million due to inflation, is part of a broader initiative to enhance community facilities in Yarmouth. The expansion aims to provide more recreational and health-focused amenities to the local population, with construction set to begin in the fall and expected completion by the fall of 2025. The naming rights deal with the Credit Union also includes a commitment to support community programs, ensuring the facility remains a vibrant center for community engagement.
