TSA agents are expecting one of the busiest weekends of the year, as Memorial Day approaches, with nearly 54,000 flights scheduled nationwide. As they prepared to board their flights Friday morning, flyers at Pittsburgh International Airport were ready to kick off the summer travel season and the long holiday weekend. "We are going to JFK right now, and then flying to Barcelona later today," said Nicole Mozena of Carnegie.

At Pittsburgh International Airport, travelers faced significant delays due to a malfunction in the baggage handling system, causing luggage to pile up and passengers to wait for extended periods. The issue, which began on a Sunday, led to the airport advising travelers to arrive earlier than usual and consider carrying on their luggage if possible. The airport's management expressed regret for the inconvenience and stated that technicians were working around the clock to resolve the problem, with hopes of having the system fully operational by the following day. This incident added to the challenges faced by travelers during a busy holiday season.
