The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is gearing up for a busy summer travel season by implementing several measures to enhance safety and efficiency. Acting FAA Administrator Billy Nolen emphasized the agency's focus on reducing close calls at airports, increasing the number of air traffic controllers, and improving technology to manage the expected surge in air traffic. The FAA plans to hire 1,500 new air traffic controllers in 2023 and is working on modernizing its systems to better handle the increased volume of flights. These efforts come in response to the anticipated high demand for air travel this summer, as more people are expected to fly compared to last year.
