The research analyzed the prices of 1,000 hotels across 10 popular destinations and found that single travelers pay an average of 13% more per night than couples. This "singles tax" can add up significantly over the course of a trip, with solo travelers potentially paying an extra $150 for a week-long stay. The study also noted that this price disparity is more pronounced in certain cities, such as New York and Paris, where the difference can be as high as 25%. As a result, solo travelers are encouraged to seek out accommodations that offer no single supplement or to consider alternative lodging options to mitigate these additional costs.
