  We spoke to retirees who planned to travel once they retired. However, financial concerns and rising costs are putting cracks in their plans.

Many retirees are finding that their long-awaited travel plans in retirement are being thwarted by rising costs and unexpected expenses, leading to disappointment and frustration. A survey by retirement-plan provider American Century Investments found that 37% of retirees felt their retirement was not going as planned, with many citing travel as a major issue. Inflation has driven up the cost of flights, accommodations, and activities, making it difficult for retirees on fixed incomes to afford their dream trips. Some retirees are delaying travel or opting for less expensive destinations, while others are cutting back on other expenses to fund their journeys. The situation has led to a sense of regret among some retirees who feel they waited too long to start their retirement adventures, only to find that the financial realities of their golden years have put their plans out of reach.
