Lawmakers pass restrictions on state employees' politicking, cut off funds for agency heads' travel

The Kansas state legislature has passed a bill that restricts state employees from promoting "concepts" related to race, gender, and identity, which critics argue could limit discussions on diversity and inclusion. The bill, which passed with a vote of 77-44 in the House and 24-15 in the Senate, prohibits state employees, including those in public universities, from promoting ideas that suggest individuals are inherently superior or inferior based on race, gender, or other characteristics, or that individuals are responsible for past actions committed by others of the same race, gender, or other identity.
