The U.S. Department of State has reissued its travel advisory for Jamaica.

The U.S. State Department reissued a travel warning for Americans traveling to Mexico due to increased crime and kidnappings, particularly in the states of Colima, Guerrero, Michoacan, Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas, where the advisory level is at its highest, urging travelers to avoid these areas. The advisory, which was last updated on October 5, 2022, also warns of the dangers of violent crimes like homicide, kidnapping, carjacking, and robbery, which are more prevalent in the northern border region and in popular tourist destinations like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum. The State Department advises travelers to exercise increased caution, be aware of their surroundings, and avoid traveling at night, while also recommending that they enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive important safety alerts and make it easier for the U.S. government to locate them in case of an emergency.
