DOJ: Herndon man arrested after traveling to DC to sexually abuse 6-year-old

A 35-year-old man was arrested and charged after he allegedly traveled to the D.C. with the intent to engage in sexual contact with a 6-year-old girl, according to the attorney's office.
A Herndon, Virginia man, identified as 23-year-old Muhammed Momtaz Al-Azhari, was arrested by the FBI for attempting to provide material support to ISIS and planning to carry out attacks in the Tampa, Florida area. Al-Azhari, who pledged allegiance to ISIS and its leader, had been under investigation since 2020 after expressing his desire to engage in "jihad" and kill people. He was taken into custody on May 18, 2023, after purchasing items like knives, a mask, and gloves, and is currently facing charges that could lead to a 20-year prison sentence. The FBI's investigation revealed that Al-Azhari had been in contact with individuals he believed were ISIS members, discussing his plans and seeking guidance on how to execute attacks.
