Brazil has filed a lawsuit against the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD for allegedly subjecting workers to conditions "analogous to slavery" at its factory in the northeastern state of Bahia. The lawsuit, initiated by the Brazilian Labor Prosecutor's Office, claims that BYD failed to provide adequate safety equipment, subjected workers to excessive overtime, and housed them in substandard living conditions. The case highlights ongoing concerns about labor practices in foreign-owned factories in Brazil and could have significant implications for BYD's operations in the country. The company has yet to respond to the allegations but has previously stated its commitment to ethical labor practices.
