New report finds Carlisle teen was traveling 110 mph before deadly Florida crash

  • Investigators in Florida's panhandle believe a Carlisle teen wasdriving more than 100 miles per hour when he crashed into a tractor-trailer, killing himself and two other passengers.

A report from the Cumberland County District Attorney's Office revealed that a 17-year-old from Carlisle, Pennsylvania, was driving at 109 mph just before a fatal crash on October 22, 2022. The teen, who was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, lost control of his 2016 Dodge Charger, resulting in the death of his 16-year-old passenger. The vehicle veered off the road, struck a tree, and flipped multiple times. The report also noted that the teen had a blood alcohol content of .114, above the legal limit, and had marijuana in his system. The incident has led to charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, among other offenses.
