President Donald Trump's new ban on travel to the U.S. by citizens from a dozen countries took effect Monday with relative calm, as some travelers with valid visas reported extra scrutiny at American airports before being allowed entry.

On the day former President Donald Trump's revised travel ban took effect, some travelers reported experiencing additional scrutiny at U.S. airports, despite the new executive order being narrower in scope than the initial ban. The revised ban, which went into effect at 12:01 a.m. ET, temporarily halted the U.S. refugee program and suspended the issuance of new visas to citizens of six Muslim-majority countries: Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. While the new order aimed to address the concerns raised by federal courts regarding the original ban, some travelers, including those from countries not listed in the ban, reported being subjected to extra questioning and delays upon arrival at U.S. airports.
