The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is expecting a record-breaking number of travelers for the Memorial Day weekend in 2023, with an estimated 10 million passengers anticipated to pass through airport security checkpoints from Thursday through Monday. This projection surpasses the previous record set in 2019 by about 300,000 travelers. The surge in travel is attributed to the continued recovery of the travel industry post-COVID-19, with airlines and airports preparing for the increased volume by hiring additional staff and enhancing operational efficiencies. TSA Administrator David Pekoske emphasized the importance of travelers arriving early and being prepared for security checks to ensure a smooth travel experience during this busy period.
