An Atlanta-based travel agent has pleaded guilty to a single count of wire fraud tied to a Ponzi-style scheme against multiple clients that included the George Mason University men's basketball team. A travel agent from New York, Sandy Basson, has pleaded guilty to charges of fraud and money laundering after defrauding clients out of more than $200,000 by falsely promising luxury travel packages and vacations. Basson, who operated under the business name "Sandy's Travel and Tours," admitted to using the funds for personal expenses instead of booking the promised trips. She faces up to 20 years in prison for the fraud charge and an additional 10 years for money laundering, with sentencing scheduled for June 15. The case came to light after multiple clients reported not receiving the services they had paid for, prompting an investigation by the New York Attorney General's office.
