A class-action lawsuit filed against Tesla alleges that the company's electric vehicles display inaccurate odometer readings, showing lower mileage than actually driven, which could affect the resale value of the cars. The lawsuit claims that Tesla's odometers do not account for the distance traveled while the car is in "Drive" but not moving, such as when waiting at traffic lights or in traffic jams. This discrepancy could lead to significant under-reporting of mileage, with the lawsuit citing an example of a Tesla Model 3 that showed 96,600 miles on the odometer but had actually traveled 109,000 miles. The plaintiffs are seeking damages for affected Tesla owners and are also requesting that Tesla correct the odometer readings and notify current owners of the issue.
