  • United Airlines said on Friday it was experiencing issues with travelers unable to check in for upcoming flights. Travelers were facing issues related to accessing the airline's website and app, data from Downdetector showed. United, in a post on social media platform X, said, "We're aware of the issue at hand and are working to get it resolved as soon as possible."

United Airlines passengers are currently experiencing significant delays due to a widespread technology issue affecting the airline's ability to communicate with aircraft, leading to a ground stop that was lifted around 2 p.m. ET. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that United requested the ground stop, which has caused over 300 flight delays as of 2:30 p.m. ET. The airline is working to resolve the problem and has advised travelers to check their flight status before heading to the airport. This incident follows a similar technology-related disruption at Southwest Airlines during the holiday season, highlighting ongoing challenges in the airline industry's technological infrastructure.
