The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) implemented the ground stop, which lasted for about an hour, to manage the flow of air traffic and ensure safety. The shortage of controllers at the New York Terminal Radar Approach Control (TRACON) facility, responsible for managing the airspace around Newark, JFK, and LaGuardia airports, has been an ongoing issue, prompting the FAA to take measures to address the staffing challenges and prevent future disruptions.
