The AAA predicts that 1.7 million Floridians will travel for the Independence Day holiday, marking a 5% increase from the previous year and the second-highest travel volume since 2019. Most travelers, about 1.5 million, will drive to their destinations, while around 129,000 are expected to fly, and 64,000 will use other modes of transportation. The increase in travel is attributed to lower gas prices and a strong economy, with the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas in Florida at $3.35, down from $3.50 last year. Additionally, AAA advises travelers to plan for potential delays due to increased traffic and to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on their journeys.
