The AAA forecasts a record-breaking Memorial Day travel period in 2023, with over 42 million Americans expected to travel, marking a 7% increase from the previous year and surpassing 2019's numbers. This surge is attributed to a strong desire for travel among Americans, with 37.1 million people planning to travel by car, a 6% increase from last year, and air travel expected to rise by 11% to 3.4 million passengers. Other modes of transportation like buses, cruises, and trains are also seeing a significant 20.6% increase, with 1.85 million travelers. The busiest travel times are predicted to be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on May 25 and from noon to 3 p.m. on May 29, with the best times to travel being in the morning or evening to avoid peak traffic.
