Puppies were learning how to help visually impaired travelers get to and onto their flights.
At Newark Liberty International Airport, a new program is training puppies to assist visually impaired travelers. These puppies, part of the "Puppy with a Purpose" program run by The Seeing Eye, are being socialized and trained in the busy airport environment to prepare them for future roles as guide dogs. The initiative not only helps the puppies become accustomed to various stimuli such as crowds, noises, and different surfaces but also raises awareness among airport staff and travelers about the needs of visually impaired individuals. The program has been well-received, with participants and observers noting the positive impact on both the puppies' development and the airport community's understanding and support for visually impaired travelers.
