People who aren't planning to travel this summer say the cost of everyday life (68%) is a bigger issue than travel expenses (64%), according to a new survey.

According to a CNBC article published on April 24, 2025, fewer Americans are planning summer vacations this year due to rising costs. A survey conducted by financial services firm Allianz Partners found that 54% of respondents cited financial concerns as the primary reason for not planning a trip, a significant increase from the 42% reported the previous year. The survey also revealed that the average budget for summer vacations has decreased by 15% compared to 2024, with many opting for shorter trips or staying closer to home. Inflation and higher travel expenses, including airfare and accommodation, are the main factors contributing to this trend, prompting travelers to seek more cost-effective alternatives or postpone their plans altogether.
