Report: Americans plan to spend more on travel this summer

According to a report by Bankrate, nearly half of Americans (48%) plan to spend more on holiday shopping this year compared to last year, driven by a strong economy and rising wages. The survey found that 31% of respondents intend to spend the same amount, while only 19% plan to spend less. The average planned holiday spending is $885 per person, with Millennials and Gen Xers expected to spend the most. The report also highlighted that 44% of Americans are willing to go into debt to finance their holiday purchases, with credit cards being the most popular method. Despite the increased spending, 64% of respondents expressed concerns about inflation and its impact on their holiday budgets.
